Tony’s Little Italy
Italy has long been known as a land of magic and wonder, pasta and gondolas… Luckily, Orange County natives have the city of Placentia. While lacking in gondolas, Tony’s Little Italy, off the 57 freeway, is still home to what we deem the most authentic Chicago deep dish pizza in North County. About the size of an average Subway, Tony’s is densely layered in Chi-town decor. Billy felt right at home at the table patterned with Chicago Cubs logos. The workers seemed nice and all, but that’s not what counts the most; we were especially impressed by the 2-inch thick pepperoni pizza that weighed approximately 4 lbs. The crust was peppered with herbs, oil, and lots of parmesan cheese. There was practically an entire layer of parmesan covering the pizza like a delicious, cheesy blanket. Tucked into this crispy crust were steaming hot layers of pepperoni, tomato sauce… and more cheese. The pizza, with its crispy dough and flavorful mozzarella-parmesan combination, makes this a standout pizza joint.
